Leftovers of the American Dream

My generation is the leftovers of the American dream,

a product of a promise that once shined and gleamed.

But now we’re becoming an afterthought and a joke,

it’s almost like our citizenship status has been revoked!

When the voter’s opinion becomes rejected and obsolete,

my people’s trust turns the opposite of whole and complete.

Nope, we don’t trust in the system!

Goodbye, we’ve already kissed um!

Kick um to the curb and toss um aside,

I don’t want a government that’s lied!

We have to rise and take command.

We the People have to take a stand.

Throw the corruption back to its homeland,

defiant and strong we have to seize our land!

My people come gather round and listen to me,

the truth They share is not all they want it to be.

A broken shame of badly written lies,

it should be causing many sighs.

No, never again will we let it happen to us!

We must call Them out, raise our fists and fuss.

Founded on freedom and the belief in democracy,

our nation has slowly slipped to support hypocrisy.

We’re selling our freedom for a chance at peace,

but the wars and violence don’t seem to cease.

Why are we backing down and losing our freedom sound?

Why are we laying our hearts in the cold and frozen ground?

We have to rise and take command.

We the People have to take a stand.

Throw the corruption back to its homeland,

defiant and strong we have to seize our land!
